Autumn Nights Concert Series to begin Sept. 27

STILLWATER, Okla. – Stillwater area residents will soon have a new music venue for a few weeks.

The Autumn Nights Concert Series kicks off Sept. 27 at The Botanic Garden at Oklahoma State University, 3300 W. 6th St.

Kim Toscano, host of Oklahoma Gardening, said this is the first year for The Botanic Garden at OSU to offer the concert series.

“Botanic gardens nurture the physical and emotional well-being of visitors through their unique environments,” Toscano said. “They connect visitors with the natural world and also serve as venues for culture discovery and expression. Through an outdoor music series we aim to connect one of Stillwater’s most celebrated features with music in the environment that inspired many of its artists.”

Folk artist Monica Taylor will kick off the series Sept. 27. The Fifth Addition will play Oct. 4 and feature jazz music. Oct. 11 will highlight the talents of Miss Blues and the Bluenotes, followed by the indie rock band The Wurly Birds Oct. 25.

“These local and area artists all feature a different style of music in an effort to appeal to diverse audiences,” she said. “We encourage concert goers to bring chairs or blankets and a picnic supper and enjoy an evening of music outdoors with their family.”

Each of the concerts will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and thanks to generous support of Hideaway Pizza, Kicker, Daddy O’s Music and Arvest Bank, the concerts are brought to the Stillwater community free of charge. There will be floral bouquets and potted plants for sale with the proceeds supporting The Botanic Garden at OSU events, including the concert series. Havenyield Tree Farm and Colonial Florist are supporting the plant sales. In addition, there will be limited snacks and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase.

“Great music outdoors will be a great way to end the work week, so make plans now to join us at The Botanic Garden at OSU,” Toscano said.
