Required Training for Dept/Unit Heads

RE:  Mandatory Training for Human Subject Protection

 

 

DASNR Unit Heads,

 

If you have already completed the mandatory training for human subject protection, you do not need to complete it again.  However, since we have several new Unit Heads, I wanted to remind everyone of the need to complete this online training.  Also, as you have new faculty members join your department, you should advise them of this training requirement.

 

All human subject research activities conducted by OSU faculty, staff, or students must be reviewed and approved by the OSU Institutional Review Board (IRB).  Before the research can commence an application for IRB approval must be submitted and approved.  This application must be approved and signed by the appropriate Unit/Department Head and Associate Dean.  All OSU Administrators responsible for approving research activities involving human subjects must complete the training, in addition to the actual faculty, staff or student conducting the research.
