The Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards provide seed money
for research by junior faculty at Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU)
member institutions. These awards are intended to enrich the research and
professional growth of young faculty and result in new funding
opportunities. In 2004, 60 applications were received and 25 awards were
made.

Eligibility: Full-time assistant professors within two years of
their initial tenure track appointment (2/4/03 through 2/4/05) at the time
of application are eligible.
Technical areas: The research project must be in one of the
following five disciplines:
Engineering and Applied Science
Life Science
Mathematics/Computer Sciences
Physical Sciences
Policy, Management, or Education
Submissions are limited to two per university. Individuals wanting to
be considered for OSU's two nominations must submit the following
materials by 5
p.m, Friday, January 7, to Jennifer Gallagher, University Research
Services (gallagh@okstate.edu) via e-mail attachment:
1.
a completed application form (saved as an
html document - instructions on website)
2.
a one-page resume in Word with a
second page listing publications and/or presentations
3.
a two-page description of the proposed
research in Word (see instructions for specifics),
including a budget justification
4.
a list of grants in force and proposals
pending
In addition, a letter of support for each applicant must be submitted
by the applicant's department head. If more than one individual from a
department applies, the head must prioritize the applicants. Letters
of support and prioritized lists are also due by 5 p.m., January 7, to
Jennifer Gallagher (gallagh@okstate.edu) via e-mail attachment.
As the guidelines note, all final applications to ORAU must be made
electronically by close of business on 2/5/05.
