Biography


Whitson mugshot

Dr. Bob Whitson has been Vice President of the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Oklahoma State University since May 2005. He serves not only as vice president, but also as Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Director of the Ag Experiment Station and Director of the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service. Recently, Whitson was appointed to Governor Henry’s Science and Technology Council.

Before coming to OSU, Whitson served as Associate Vice Chancellor and Associate Dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University and Deputy Director of the Texas Ag Experiment Station. He also served as department head of Rangeland Ecology and Management during his tenure at Texas A&M, as well as Interim Department Head of Animal Science.

Whitson earned his PhD in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University. He earned his MS in agricultural economics and BS in range management from Texas Tech University.
