Grant Writing Resources
The art of successful proposal writing is a learned skill acquired through diligent practice and meaningful interactions with successful grant writers. To position faculty for success, the college and university provide classes to not only develop and refine proposal writing skills but also facilitate opportunities to exchange ideas and tips.
Division of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources
While DASNR Sponsored Programs does not employ a grant writer, the staff is available for limited consultation, guidance and review of proposals. In particular, DASNR Sponsored Programs can provide guideline interpretation and proposal coordination services. DASNR Sponsored Programs also hosts small seminars and lunceons on specific grantsmanship topics. These are scheduled on an as-needed basis and the information is distributed to all faculty in DASNR.
Office of Proposal Development, VPRTT
The Office of Proposal Development in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer provides assistance to OSU faculty and administrators developing external grant proposals, including those involving multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional research teams.
Scheduled assistance by the proposal specialist will be billed out to investigators at $25 per hour (minimum half hour increments) via monthly campus vendor invoices . These costs can be charged to F&A, departmental, or college accounts (not grant accounts.) Informal queries and/or requests for basic information are not considered scheduled assistance and will not be charged. An important priority is to assist new faculty at OSU to successfully compete for research funding; therefore, the Vice President for Research & Technology Transfer provides up to 8 hours gratis proposal assistance to new faculty any time within 24 months after hire.
